Annika is a comfy sweatshirt with a lapped neckline and split hem bands. With add-on pieces such as an oversized hood, a kangaroo pocket, thumbhole cuffs and woven shirttails, the possibilities for mixing and matching are limitless.
Never sewn with knits before? No worries! Sewing with knits is easy and fun with this step-by-step guide which includes lots of tips, photos and diagrams to guide you along.
SUGGESTED FABRICS: Medium-weight knit fabrics with at least 50% stretch and good recovery -- 58"/60" wide. Try Stretch Fleece, French Terry, Stretch Velvet, Velour, Ponte de Roma or Sweater Knits. You may use Cotton Lycra or Jersey for a lightweight top. Use Rib Knits or a fabric with high lycra content for the cuffs and neck bands. For the shirttails, use a light- to medium-weight woven fabric like quilting cotton, shirting or lawn.
NOTIONS: A package of clear elastic or skinny strips of knit interfacing for stabilizing seams on unstable knits (OPTIONAL).
